University of Washington Sound Transit Station (U250)

DESCRIPTION 

As part of a GCCM contract, our team performed all the sitework for the University of Washington Sound Transit Station, located near Husky Stadium.

SCOPE OF WORK 

This complex project included excavation, grading, site utilities, MEP trenching, and paving. Specific scope items included site demolition, mass excavation and embankment; structure excavation and backfill, installation of sanitary sewer, domestic and fire water, storm drainage, import and placement of structural fill, import and placement of gravel base aggregates, site grading, structural earth wall construction, trench drain installation, cellular concrete fill, paving, traffic control, and channelization.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

• Approximately 125 feet deep and 700 feet long excavation. The building excavation had to be performed in a manner that allowed for top-down construction of the below grade portion of the new station
• Performed all TESC duties, including monitoring, treatment, and discharge of site stormwater
• Successful installation of approximately 14,000 cubic yards cellular concrete fill on top of the new station
• Approximately 163,000 cubic yards of imported site fill
• This project was in progress at the same time Husky Stadium was being renovated. Close coordination between both construction teams was critical to the success of both projects
