Cedar Hills Landfill

DESCRIPTION 

Our team was contracted by King County Solid Waste to furnish and install 40mil LLDPE textured colored liner system to enclose Area 7 at the Cedar Hills Regional Landfill.

SCOPE OF WORK 

We were responsible for the installation of 40mil LLDP textured colored liner, various sized (6” to 24”) HDPE pipe, and a custom vault for the storm drainage collection system. Our team also crushed and screened existing on-site cobbles to make the drain layer aggregate that the liner was placed on top of.

Other items of work included Temporary Erosion and Sediment Control (TESC), cleaning of existing storm water detention pond, traffic control, and Contractor Quality Control (CQC) program.

PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS

• Installed 24,615 yards of 40mil LLDP textured colored liner to cover Area 7 of the solid waste landfill that was ready for final cover
• Installed various sized (6” to 24”) HDPE pipe for the landfill methane gas collection system and storm drainage
• Crushed and screened 11,600 cubic yards of existing on-site cobbles to make the drain layer aggregate that the liner was placed on top of
• Furnished and installed a custom vault for the storm drainage collection system
• Overcame many challenges where the existing liner had to be spliced into the new liner. Our team worked closely with King County’s design team to design and perform these new liner connections successfully
